Wolfe Nursery Direct in Lubbock is opening its doors to the general public on Saturday mornings, giving local homeowners and gardeners a chance to shop at a nursery that has traditionally focused on professional landscapers and commercial customers.
There’s just one thing you need to remember:
Saturday mornings only.
Wolfe Nursery’s New Saturday Hours
Wolfe Nursery will be open to the general public every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
That’s actually a pretty ideal time to shop for plants in West Texas. You can get there early, pick out what you need and hopefully get back home before the afternoon sun makes you question why you decided landscaping was going to be your weekend hobby.
During the week, Wolfe Nursery primarily serves professional customers, including landscapers, garden centers and retailers.
The new Saturday hours give the rest of us an opportunity to come in and shop where the pros shop.

Wolfe Nursery Direct opened its Lubbock operation in 2005 and is located at 1211 Alcove Avenue.
The company offers a wide selection of landscaping plants, including trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.
Wolfe Nursery Direct also operates locations in Stephenville and Fort Worth, but the Wolfe name in the Texas nursery business goes back considerably further.
The original Wolfe Nursery was established in Stephenville in 1919 by Ross R. Wolfe, giving the name more than a century of history in Texas horticulture.

Here’s something I didn’t know until looking into the history of the company.
The Wolfe family has ties to Texas Tech.
Billie Wolfe, daughter of Wolfe Nursery founder Ross Wolfe, joined the Texas Tech faculty in 1955. In 1985, she established the Ross R. Wolfe-Luther Burbank Scholarship Fund at Texas Tech, benefiting students studying Landscape Architecture.
So there’s some genuine Texas (and Texas Tech) history attached to the Wolfe name.
A New Option for Lubbock Gardeners
For Lubbock homeowners, the big news is much simpler.
If you’re planning a new flower bed, replacing shrubs that surrendered to the West Texas weather or finally tackling that backyard project you’ve been talking about for three years, you’ve got another place to shop.
Wolfe Nursery Direct is at 1211 Alcove Avenue in Lubbock and is now open to the public Saturdays ONLY from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Four hours.
Get there early.
Because unlike that backyard project, Saturday morning isn’t going to wait until next year.
