SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has submitted a criminal case to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for review following the death of 2-year-old Malachi LaBlanc, who drowned in a North Side community pool.

The Sheriff’s Office said on Friday that investigators have completed the case and sent it to prosecutors, who will determine whether there is a criminal element and whether to move forward with charges.

Malachi was found unresponsive in the pool while he was with a family friend, according to his parents. He was taken to a hospital and later declared brain-dead.

His parents, Grace and Myron LeBlanc, said their son’s heart, kidney and liver were donated to help other children.
