EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Multiple students were injured in an incident at Americas High School on Friday morning, according to the Socorro Independent School District.

District officials said the incident happened as students arrived for class and involved multiple students.

The students involved have been identified, and their parents were notified directly.

The alleged aggressor was taken into custody by SISD police, the district said.

The school was initially placed on lockdown as officials responded. SISD said the lockdown has since been lifted, but the campus remains on hold while the incident is investigated.

Emergency crews transported the injured students to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.

SISD did not release details on the number of students injured or the extent of their injuries.

All other students and staff members were safe and under the supervision of faculty and staff, according to the district.

SISD said it will provide another update after the hold at Americas High School is lifted.
