Four people were hospitalized after a speeding sports car struck an SUV, a parked vehicle and a tree Thursday night in downtown Dallas, police said.

Officers responded about 8:10 p.m. to the crash near Main and North Akard streets. According to a preliminary investigation, a black sports car traveling on Main Street collided with a red SUV at the intersection before striking a parked vehicle and a tree.

The impact caused the SUV to spin and hit another parked vehicle, police said.

Four people were taken to a hospital. A passenger in the sports car suffered a broken leg, while the other three people sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Officers arrested one male at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. He also faces Class C misdemeanor charges for allegedly driving without a valid license and failing to have proof of insurance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
