Thousands without power as abrupt storms spark CPS Energy outages

Thousands of CPS Energy customers in San Antonio are without power as storms moved through the area Friday night.

A CPS Energy outage map shows that 95,071 customers are currently without power due to 352 active outages as of 9:15 p.m.  Among the ZIP codes hardest hit is 78233 with more 9,000 residents affected.

The outages come as severe storms move through the San Antonio area Friday night, bringing heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. 

The National Weather Service also issued a Flash Flood Warning until 12:15 a.m.

In a social media post, school district officials announced that it had canceled the Southwest High School football game because of the weather. Officials said the game will not re rescheduled.
