SAN ANTONIO – An off-duty Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested early Friday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Hernandez-Villarreal, 26, was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday near I-10 and Huebner.
Hernandez-Villarreal has worked for the department for about one year.
The sheriff’s office said he has received a notice of proposed dismissal and was placed on paid administrative leave pending termination, in accordance with county civil service rules and department policy.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said Hernandez-Villarreal “chose poorly” by allegedly getting behind the wheel after drinking and would lose his career as a result.
SAPD is conducting the criminal investigation, while BCSO has opened a separate internal investigation.
