BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The parents of a Texas A&M student from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, who died after being shot at a Bryan apartment complex in May, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages.
Melissa and Paul Dean Crow filed the lawsuit on behalf of their late son, Caden Crow, in Brazos County District Court. The suit names Brenham residents Craig and Tricia Boggan, along with their son, Charlie Boggan, as defendants.
According to court documents obtained and reviewed this week by KBTX, the shooting occurred around 3:27 a.m. on May 2, 2026, inside Charlie Boggan’s apartment on West Villa Maria Road.
The plaintiffs allege that Charlie Boggan negligently discharged a Glock 19 Gen4 handgun while handling it under the influence of alcohol. Caden Crow was shot in the abdomen and later died. A medical examiner ruled Caden’s death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The lawsuit claims Craig and Tricia Boggan purchased and provided the Glock 19 to Charlie Boggan, despite allegedly knowing he was “careless, reckless, negligent, and/or untrained with firearms.”
The plaintiffs are seeking punitive and exemplary damages in excess of $1 million for conscious pain and suffering, medical bills, mental anguish, wrongful death, and funeral expenses. The family is represented by Houston-based personal injury law firm Jim S. Adler & Associates.
In a response filed in July, the defendants issued a general denial of all allegations in the plaintiffs’ petition.

Represented by the Brenham-based law firm Ballard & Fleetwood PLLC, the defendants are demanding strict proof of the claims and have asked the court to enter judgment in their favor and award them court costs and attorney’s fees.
Houston-based journalist and investigator Wayne Dolcefino shared a report on Friday that includes body camera video from the night of the shooting, along with allegations that this isn’t the first time Boggan has handled a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
The Bryan Police Department turned its investigation over to the Brazos County DA’s office, which presented the case to a Grand Jury, and it was ‘no-billed ’, meaning the members of the Grand Jury concluded there wasn’t enough evidence to charge Boggan with a crime.
A spokesman for the Bryan Police Department confirmed this week that the case is now closed, but the family is asking for a new Grand Jury to review it.
“The law is the law. Handling a firearm when you’re drunk is no different than getting behind a steering wheel when you’re drunk,” said Paul Crow.
On September 1, Crow and other Aggies who have recently passed away will be honored at Silver Taps.
Crow’s family plans to attend the ceremony in person.
