Introducing the Fort Worth-area’s top 100 high school football players to watch for the 2026 season. See top recruits, productive returners, underrated gems and more.
Editor’s note: The following list is not based solely on recruitment, although it is a factor. Impact within a program, expected role on a team and production from the 2025 season are also considered.
Top 100 players to watch
1. Jayshon Gibson, senior RB, NRH Richland: The No. 67 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027 according to 247Sports, Gibson earned District 3-5A Division I Offensive MVP honors, rushing for 2,263 yards and 41 touchdowns while adding 287 receiving yards and five scores. He is a UCLA pledge, a four-star recruit and the area’s most productive, stat-stuffing returner. He sets the tone for the Fort Worth-area’s No. 1-ranked Class 5A squad.
2. Damarion Mays, junior WR, North Crowley: Mays, the No. 28 recruit in Texas for the class of 2028, holds offers from Georgia, SMU, Texas Tech, TCU, Ohio State and others as a four-star uncommitted prospect. In terms of pure talent, few compare to Mays, who could take a huge leap along with North Crowley’s offense. The Panthers will enter the season with an experienced group, and Mays is one of the focal points.
3. Brody Knowles, senior WR, Southlake Carroll: Knowles, the No. 99 class of 2027 recruit in Texas, has been contributing since his sophomore year in a stacked Carroll offense. Now, it’s the Illinois commit’s time to lead the charge. He posted 36 catches for 816 yards and seven TDs on 22.7 yards per grab as a junior, establishing himself as the Fort Worth area’s best deep threat, with elite speed and a lengthy 6-foot-5 frame.

4. Carson James, senior RB, Fort Worth Arlington Heights: A UTEP pledge and the No. 101 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027, James rushed for 2,352 yards and scored 30 total TDs en route to District 4-5A Division I MVP honors. He led Arlington Heights to its best season since 1973 while playing some of the most entertaining, productive football in Fort Worth. James is an extremely tough runner who bulldozes the competition.
5. Isaiah Taylor, junior CB/QB, Keller Central: Taylor, a two-way phenom, is the No. 2 recruit in Texas for the class of 2028 and the nation’s top-ranked cornerback. At quarterback, he threw for 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 659 yards and six scores. Top programs nationwide have extended offers to Taylor, who will lead Central’s playoff push.
6. Elijajuan Houston, senior S, North Crowley: Houston, the No. 88 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027, captured Star-Telegram Defensive Player of the Year honors last season. He also earned the District 3-6A MVP award, something that historically is given to an offensive player. That showcases the vast amount of the respect the Arizona State pledge commands as he anchors the Panthers’ elite secondary.
7. Cameron Hall, senior DL, Mansfield Summit: Hall, a Texas pledge, is the No. 6 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027. Eighteen tackles for loss and 10 sacks earned him District 3-5A Division II Defensive Player of the Year honors. He is the highest rated defensive recruit in the Fort Worth area.
8. Noah Tarrant, sophomore TE, Fort Worth All Saints: The No. 1 tight end nationwide for the class of 2029, Tarrant caught five passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns in All Saints’ first game. Top programs have already extended offers to the standout tight end.
9. Jeremiah Taylor, junior CB/WR, Keller Central: The two-way contributor posted 390 receiving yards and three touchdowns while also recording an interception. He is the No. 23 recruit in Texas for the class of 2028.
10. Hudson Tomcheck, junior QB, Southlake Carroll: Tomcheck, the No. 70 recruit in the class of 2028, is set to make his varsity debut and join Carroll’s lineage of outstanding quarterbacks. He’ll work with what’s arguably the top receiver room in Texas. He is a three-star recruit with offers from TCU, SMU, Baylor and more.
11. Jerry Outhouse Jr., senior CB, North Crowley: The four-star UCLA pledge registered 35 tackles, a forced fumble, nine pass breakups, two interceptions and a touchdown in 2025. He is the No. 23 Texas recruit in the class of 2027.

12. DeShawn Edwards, senior QB, Mansfield Lake Ridge: Edwards threw for 2,421 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 1,346 yards and 22 scores in 2025. He earned 2025 Star-Telegram All-Area First Team honors.
13. Blake Gunter, senior WR, Southlake Carroll: Gunter led the Dragons with 20 total touchdowns after tallying 1,224 receiving yards and 18 scores while adding 138 yards and two touchdowns as a runner. He is the No. 169 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027 and a Cal pledge who should take on an increased role this season.
14. Tymon Meeks, senior DL, Aledo: An Oregon State pledge, Meeks recorded 94 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and 32 quarterback hurries while also recovering a fumble. The No. 239 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027 earned District 3-5A Division I first-team and All-Area second-team honors.
15. Kiante Ingram, senior RB, North Crowley: Ingram thrived in big games for the Panthers, tallying 1,519 yards and 22 touchdowns at 6.9 yards per carry. Ingram is the No. 214 recruit in Texas for the class of 2027 and an uncommitted prospect with offers from SMU, Arizona, Ole Miss, Texas State and others.
16. Tristan Dare, senior OL, Southlake Carroll: The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman is a Missouri commit and three-star recruit ranked as the No. 113 prospect in Texas for the class of 2027. Dare recorded 76 knockdowns with a 93% grade, earning All-Area first-team and MaxPreps All-American honors.
17. Jacob Torres, senior QB, North Crowley: Torres is stepping into a loaded North Crowley offense and has the talent to thrive. He was ruled ineligible as a junior. Now, the Emporia State commit is back. He posted big numbers as a sophomore with Burleson Centennial, earning district newcomer honors.
18. Luke Wilson, senior OL, Southlake Carroll: Wilson, an Oklahoma pledge, is a 6-foot-6, 290 pound three-star recruit. He is the No. 103 Texas recruit in his class and earned All-Area second-team honors with a 90% grade.
19. Kevin Grant, senior CB, Arlington Martin: The state’s No. 59 recruit hauled in three interceptions and contributed a bit on offense as a junior. Grant is an all-around, three-star athlete committed to Arkansas. He competes among the state’s best in the Class 6A long jump.
20. Kingston “K1” Parks, senior WR, Aledo: Parks, a transfer from Arlington Oakridge and a Boise State pledge, is a lengthy 6-foot-3 target with a three-star rating. He could have a big role with Aledo in a revamped offense.
21. Javian Jones-Priest, senior RB, Arlington Martin: Jones-Priest, a four-star Virginia Tech pledge, posted 1,154 yards and 12 TDs as a junior. He is the No. 53 class of 2027 recruit in Texas.

22. G’Yrell Smith, senior RB, North Crowley: In a two-man Panther rush attack, Smith’s star power is evident. The three-star North Texas pledge rushed for 1,015 yards and 19 TDs as a junior.
23. Kason Brown, junior WR, Arlington: Brown commands major respect as the No. 32-ranked class of 2028 wide receiver in the nation. He has offers from TCU, Texas Tech, SMU and more. He posted seven TDs as a sophomore.
24. Aston Whiteside, senior LB, Burleson Centennial: The Texas A&M pledge is arguably the most respected linebacker in the Fort Worth area. He is the No. 58 class of 2027 recruit in Texas. He has a 4.6 second 40-yard dash and can also play safety.
25. Kameron Coleman, senior RB, White Settlement Brewer: Coleman, a second-team All-Area selection, was very effective for a Brewer squad that made playoffs last season, posting 1,805 yards and 21 rushing TDs. He has offers from Air Force, Rice and more.
26. Caris Sela, senior RB, Justin Northwest: Sela, a TCU pledge, was extremely effective for the Texans, tallying 1,670 yards and 15 TDs on 6.7 yards per carry.
27. Jordan Hall, junior DB, Aledo: Hall, the No. 63-ranked junior in Texas, is a three-star recruit with offers from Texas, Oklahoma State and more. Expect him to take on tough assignments and thrive.
28. Brayden Boults, sophomore RB, Fort Worth All Saints: Boults has offers from Alabama, LSU, Georgia and more.
29. Brett Kates, senior QB, Richland: Kates passed for 2,732 pass yards and 24 TDs last season while rushing for 582 yards and eight TDs en route to Star-Telegram Newcomer of the Year honors.

30. Maxwell Nichols, senior WR, Arlington Bowie: Nichols, an honorable mention All-Area selection as a junior, tallied over 1,000 yards and is committed to UTEP.
31. Brooks Biggers, senior RB, Southlake Carroll: As the leader of Carroll’s running back room, expect Biggers to put up big numbers in a loaded offense. The senior, who posted 13 TDs while scoring on 20% of his carries, has offers from Texas State and Colorado.
32. Chayce Davis, senior DB, Euless Trinity: Davis is a three-star Oklahoma State pledge ranked as the No. 117 class of 2027 player in Texas.
33. Kaine Hill, senior QB, Springtown: Hill, who has offers from TCU, Air Force and more, passed for 2,650 yards and 34 TDs last season, leading one of the area’s best Class 4A offenses.
34. Chance Lassiter, senior RB/WR, Fort Worth Boswell: Lassiter is an all-around, versatile standout for the Pioneers. He tallied 1,105 all-purpose yards and 12 total TDs last season. He is committed to Dartmouth.
35. Braylon Harris, senior QB, Hurst L.D. Bell: As a junior, Harris passed for 1,247 pass yards and 11 TDs while rushing for 574 yards and seven TDs. His veteran experience will be key for the Blue Raiders.
36. Tre Williams, senior QB, Aledo: Williams, a three-star recruit, transferred to Aledo from Lewisville. With several talented wide receivers, expect him to put up some serious numbers with the Bearcats. He is a pro style QB who can orchestrate a pass-heavy offense if needed.
37. Carter James, senior DE, Fort Worth Arlington Heights: James was a defensive monster for Heights in a historic season. He registered 86 tackles, 32 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks en route to All-Area honors.
38. Kameron Jenkins, senior QB, Alvarado: Leading a Class 4A offense that competed among the state’s best, Jenkins passed for a whopping 3,864 passing yards and 51 TDs as a junior.

39. Lucas Sunwall, junior WR, Colleyville Heritage: Sunwall, one of the area’s most productive young receivers, put up 685 receiving yards and eight TDs last season en route to district newcomer of the year honors.
40. Carson Campbell, sophomore OL, FW All Saints: One of the best class of 2029 prospects in the area, Campbell is a three-star recruit with offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, LSU, SMU and more.
41. Ty McCurry, junior OL, Southlake Carroll: McCurry, the No. 78-ranked junior in Texas, has offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, LSU and more. He has a 6-foot-6, 290-pound frame.
42. Mason Johnson, senior DL, Mansfield Lake Ridge: Johnson, a three-star North Texas pledge, is expected to be a force in Lake Ridge’s trenches. As a junior, he had 71 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and five sacks.
43. Kentrell Steward, senior QB, Fort Worth Wyatt: Steward was effective in a solid year for Wyatt, passing for 2,548 yards and 20 TDs while rushing for 1,127 yards and 18 TDs.
44. Braylin Barnett, senior WR, Mansfield Timberview: Barnett was productive as a junior, posting 783 receiving yards and eight TDs.
45. Rome Ewell, senior LB, Springtown: Ewell, a three-star Arizona pledge, is the No. 153 class of 2027 recruit in Texas. He is a tackle machine, registering 143 as a junior.
46. King Stephens, junior RB, Azle: Stephens, after a season ending knee injury as a freshman, established himself as one of the area’s top rising athletes, posting 1,775 rushing yards and 19 total touchdowns.
47. Samajai Davis, senior DB, Arlington: Davis, a three-star Boston College pledge, is the No. 156 class of 2027 player in Texas. He tallied two interceptions as a junior.
48. Thomas Muiruri, senior OL, Haslet Eaton: Muiruri has a massive 6-foot-7 frame and is committed to Houston. He is the No. 172 senior recruit in Texas.
49. Jeramie Cooper, senior TE, North Crowley: Cooper, a first-team all-district selection, is one of the area’s top uncommitted senior recruits and has offers from Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU and more.
50. Kingston Beyer, senior DT, Fort Worth All Saints: Beyer, a Wyoming pledge, is one of the top defensive players in Texas private school football.
51. Ola-Oluwa Orebe, senior DL, Fort Worth Boswell: Orebe has a big frame at 6-foot-3, 280 pounds, with strong speed for his size. He is the No. 178 class of 2027 recruit in Texas and is committed to North Texas.
52. Shahariam Thurston, senior DB, Arlington Lamar: Thurston, a three-star Iowa State commit, recorded 82 tackles, five tackles for a loss and two interceptions as a junior.
53. Luke Stevens, senior DB, Fort Worth Christian: Stevens, a three-star Arizona pledge, was an impactful ball hawk for the Cardinals, hauling in five interceptions. He is one of the top defenders in Texas private school football.
54. Mikah Blow, senior WR, Mansfield Lake Ridge: Blow, also a long jump athlete, is a Howard pledge. He tallied over 700 yards and six TDs as a junior.
55. Alexander Herrera, senior OL, Crowley: Herrera, also known as “Big Country,” has a massive 6-foot-6, 330-pound frame. He is three-star recruit committed to TCU.
56. Kaiden McCauley, junior LB, Keller: McCauley boasts a No. 73 class of 2028 recruiting ranking. A three-star with offers from UCLA and more, McCauley recorded 141 tackles for the Indians as an underclassman.
57. Caden Palmquest, junior TE, Aledo: Palmquest, a transfer from Arizona, is a three-star committed to SMU. He has a 6-foot-2 frame and can thrive as a pass catcher.
58. Cameron Booker, senior TE, Fort Worth Chisholm Trail: Booker, who has an offer from North Texas, can make a huge impact with the Rangers. He found the end zone four times as a junior.
59. Caryell Brown, senior CB, Arlington Seguin: With offers from Arizona State, Wake Forest and more, Brown is expected to be a top returner for a solid Seguin squad.
60. Fine Taufatofua Vailahi, junior DL, Trophy Club Byron Nelson: A three-star recruit, Vailahi has offers from SMU, Tennessee, UCLA and more. He could be the athlete to watch for the Bobcats’ defense, as he registered 10 tackles for a loss last season.
61. Luis Mendoza, senior LB, Arlington: Mendoza stuffed the stat sheet as a junior with 143 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and eight sacks.
62. Antonio Birdow, senior WR, Arlington Bowie: Birdow tallied five TDs in just five games, making the most of limited time. His agility, quickness and route running are eye-popping.
63. Jakob Hemphill, junior WR, Weatherford: Hemphill is a Roo to watch. As a sophomore, he tallied 1,016 receiving yards and 11 TDs. He is versatile, with an ability to thrive in the run game if needed.
64. Dez Bryant Jr., junior WR/ATH, Southlake Carroll: Bryant Jr. is a quick, physical athlete who is set to receive touches in a crowded Carroll wide receiver room. He has offers from Oklahoma State, TCU, SMU, Texas A&M and more. He is the son of Dallas Cowboys legend Dez Bryant.
65. Thomas “Slicey” Joyner III, sophomore WR, Southlake Carroll: Joyner III, with elite speed, is one of the top underclassmen to watch in the area. He has offers from Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, Houston and more.
66. Cole Cox, senior LB, Aledo: Expect Cox, who is taking on former Aledo linebacker Chase Wilburn’s role, to be a productive force. He had 105 tackles and 17 tackles for a loss as a junior. He’ll be a pillar in an Aledo defense that could be one of the area’s best.

67. Trysten Shaw, senior WR, Mansfield Timberview: Shaw, the No. 137 class of 2027 player in Texas, is a Tulsa pledge with serious next-level speed.
68. Preston Stauts, junior DE, Mansfield Timberview: Stauts, a three-star recruit with offers from SMU, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and more, posted 23 tackles as a sophomore. He is the No. 65-rated Texas recruit in the junior class.
69. Chris Johnson, junior RB, Fort Worth Eastern Hills: Keep an eye on Johnson, who posted 1,268 yards and 17 TDs as a sophomore, as the Highlanders make a push for a district title.
70. Zach Wells, senior QB, NRH Birdville: Wells has experience and a proven ability to run the Hawk offense. He passed for 1,629 yards and 15 TDs as a junior.
71. Dorian Gilland, junior WR/DB, Fort Worth Eastern Hills: Gilland thrived on both sides of the ball for the Highlanders as a two-way standout last season. He tallied five interceptions while also finding the end zone three times as a sophomore.
72. Holt Frazier, senior QB, Brock: Within a Brock program that knows how to win, Frazier passed for 3,445 yards and 50 TDs last season with a 72% completion rate.
73. Darious Marshall, senior DB, Fort Worth Trimble Tech: Marshall snagged five interceptions as a junior. He’ll be a key leader for the Bulldog defense and has an offer from McPherson College.
74. Truman Shelton, junior RB, Fort Worth Paschal: Shelton was very effective for Paschal as a sophomore, gaining nearly 1,400 all-purposes yards and 23 total TDs. Keep an eye on him as the Panthers make a playoff push.

75. Luis Vega, senior OL, Fort Worth Arlington Heights: With a 300-pound frame, Vega is a big body within a Heights line that has established itself as one of the best in the district.
76. Kenyen Cotton, senior RB, Crowley: Cotton was effective for the Eagles last season, posting 1,382 rushing yards and 10 total TDs.
77. Kelle Johnson, senior LB, Fort Worth Arlington Heights: Johnson, who has an offer from Texas Weslayan, was a big-time producer for Heights last season, making 126 tackles with seven tackles for a loss.
78. DeMarcus Ware Jr., sophomore LB, Southlake Carroll: Ware, the son of a former Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher, is a promising recruit with offers from Colorado, SMU and more. Keep an eye on him to keep rising within a young Dragon defense.
79. Spencer Martin, senior RB, Keller Central: Martin brings a young Keller Central squad senior experience and leadership. As a junior, he tallied 918 rushing yards and 10 TDs.
80. Lane Brinkley, senior QB, Keller Timber Creek: Brinkley commanded a pass-heavy offense at Timber Creek, recording 1,918 passing yards and 19 total TDs. He also plays baseball.

81. Xian Johnson, senior DB, Arlington Lamar: Johnson has a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and has offers from Nevada, Sacramento State, Tulsa and more.
82. Davis Lee, senior TE, Brock: Lee, a North Texas commit, tallied over 500 yards and 10 TDs as a junior. He has a 6-foot-3 frame and can still break out as a receiver and thrive.
83. Mack Lineweaver, senior QB, Euless Trinity: Lineweaver is back to command the offense of a squad expected to compete with the state’s best. He finished in the top 10 in the Elite 11 accuracy challenge and runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash.
84. Jayden Cowan, senior QB, Keller Fossil Ridge: Cowan, an all-around athlete, is expected to take over the quarterback position for Fossil Ridge.
85. Jayden Evans, senior WR, Mansfield Lake Ridge: Evans, a New Mexico pledge, thrived within a packed Lake Ridge receiver room, posting 761 receiving yards and 11 TDs last season.
86. Kaiden Foster, senior CB, White Settlement Brewer: Foster thrives in multiple aspects for Brewer. His athleticism is evident, as he returned four kicks for TDs last season. He could play a key role as the Bears aim for district title contention.
87. Hudson Harbuck, senior TE, Fort Worth All Saints: With a strong 6-foot-6 frame, Harbuck makes a huge impact within a well-rounded Saints offense. The Oregon State commit is serving as a team captain for a squad aiming for three consecutive state titles.
88. Ben Hicks, senior ATH, Haslet Eaton: Hicks made 29 tackles as a junior, flashing versatile athleticism. He can play linebacker, safety or wide receiver if needed.
89. Amari Bartee, senior CB, Crowley: Bartee, a Lafayette pledge and a three-star recruit, recorded 41 tackles and 15 pass breakups as a junior.
90. Jet Thomas, junior LB, Fort Worth All Saints: Thomas burst onto the scene as a sophomore, earning all-state honors. He boasts a Michigan offer and will be a key player on the Saints’ defense.
91. Barrett Bray, senior OL, Fort Worth All Saints: Bray, a team captain for the Saints, is a Toledo pledge. He has a 6-foot-3 frame and helps his team dominate in the trenches.
92. Hayden Waller, senior LB, Brock: Waller, a three-star Air Force pledge, earned district defensive MVP honors last season, making 104 tackles.
93. Siale Mapakaitolo, senior DE, Hurst L.D. Bell: Mapakaitolo has the size (6-foot-2, 250 pounds) and the speed to make a very big impact with the Blue Raiders as they push for a playoff spot.
94. Carver Johnston, sophomore K, Fort Worth All Saints: Chris Sailer kicking ratings name Johnson as the No. 1 sophomore kicker in the nation. He is the highest-ranked specialist in an area packed with kicking talent.
95. Braylen Cunningham, sophomore DB, North Crowley: Cunningham gained varsity experience as a true freshman and is expected to contribute to a North Crowley secondary that may be the best in Texas. He is a three-star recruit with offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas and many more.

96. Brock Lacy, junior DB, North Crowley: Lacy is a talented player within an absolutely stacked North Crowley defense. He has offers from SMU, TCU, North Texas and more.
97. Deon Duncan, sophomore WR, Saginaw: Duncan is a bright spot in the Rough Rider offense with offers from SMU, Texas Tech and more. The rising star tallied 435 receiving yards and seven TDs as a freshman.
98. Hayden Green, junior WR, North Crowley: Green has made some noise ahead of his junior season, drawing offers from SMU, Texas A&M, TCU and more. He has a 6-foot-3 frame and can play tight end if needed.
99. Da’Myrian Wash, senior LB, White Settlement Brewer: Wash is one of the top returning tacklers in the area with 132 as a junior. He had 20 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks and an interception.
