NORAD announced that its F-16 fighters intercepted five general aviation aircraft Friday morning during the Temporary Flight Restriction over Houston while President Donald Trump is in town.

The aircraft were escorted out of the restricted area by NORAD.

“Safeguarding our shared airspace is a mission where every single aviator has a vital role to play,” said Royal Canadian Air Force Major-General David Moar, director of NORAD operations, in a statement. “Multiple recent TFR violations in Texas is a clear signal that we must address this together and drive that number down immediately.”

Trump visited Houston to attend a Republican National Committee reception on Thursday and NASA’s Johnson Space Center to honor Artemis II astronauts on Friday. It was his third visit to the state since he took office in 2025.
