  • August 29, 2026

SAN ANTONIO – An off-duty Bexar County sheriff’s deputy was arrested early Friday and is accused of driving while intoxicated, according to BCSO.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office identified the deputy as Daniel Hernandez-Villarreal, 26.

According to an SAPD preliminary report, officers stopped Hernandez-Villarreal for speeding on Interstate 10 westbound near Huebner Road.

San Antonio police officers later took Hernandez-Villarreal into custody for DWI, the report said.

Hernandez-Villarreal has been issued a notice of proposed dismissal and placed on paid administrative leave pending termination, the sheriff’s office said.

SAPD is conducting a criminal investigation into the arrest, as the sheriff’s office is also investigating separately.

According to a KSAT Investigates analysis, Hernandez-Villarreal is the sixth BCSO deputy arrested in 2026.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
