Here’s what you need to know about all the revitalization work underway in the Texas capital.
Next to AUS’ Blue Garage, construction is rapidly underway on the facility’s Yellow Garage, an approximately 7,000-space garage anticipated to wrap construction by early 2027. In the interim, traffic patterns have shifted near the Blue Garage exits and flaggers are helping visitors navigate the construction zone.
Inside the Departures Hall, construction on AUS’ Atrium Infill project is visible between Transportation Security Administration checkpoints 2 and 3. The project is adding more than 12,000 square feet to the terminal to accommodate additional space for TSA lines, airline ticket counter lines and passenger queuing areas.
Austin’s West Gate expansion project is steadily moving along as construction crews add new restrooms, additional seating and waiting areas, an outdoor patio for travelers and employees alongside three new gates for additional airline operations down the road.
In total, the West Gate project amounts to 84,500 square feet and is expected to complete work later this year.
Travelers waiting near gates 17-21 at AUS will be able to catch a glimpse of some of the construction to add new taxiways in the Texas capital. Those taxiways will help planes move between gates and runways while aiding future construction efforts.
Under current timelines, work on those taxiways is slated to conclude in spring 2027.
