SAN ANTONIO – Residents displaced by recent storms in the local area can get help through the American Red Cross Greater San Antonio Chapter, which says it is responding to meet urgent needs.
The Red Cross said its volunteers are working closely with apartment complex property managers to begin casework and assist affected individuals and families.
A shelter is open at Crossroads Church, 8102 Midcrown Dr., Windcrest, TX 78239.

Anyone who has been displaced can call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for assistance, the Red Cross said.
Immediate assistance includes food, shelter, relief supplies, emotional support, health services, financial assistance and other resources, according to the Red Cross.

The organization also urged families to prepare for severe weather by having an emergency plan, building an emergency kit, and staying informed about weather conditions in their area. More information on emergency preparedness and severe weather safety is available at www.redcross.org.
