ARLINGTON — Cowboys wide receiver Jordan Hudson finished the preseason with four catches for a team-high 97 yards with one touchdown in the team’s 27-24 loss to the Saints.
On Thursday, a federal judge blocked the NCAA from keeping several players from returning to college. Hudson along with Kansas City’s Wesley Bissainthe and Omari Evans were listed as plaintiffs who challenged the NCAA’s rule.
The ruling allows the players to either return to the college they previously attended, in Hudson’s case SMU, or enter the transfer portal.
“Not as of right now,” Hudson said Friday when asked if he would return to school. “I’m focusing on making this team. That’s where my priority’s at. But if the opportunity comes and I get cut, then we’ll figure it out when we get there.”
Friday was not only a busy night in football on the field, but off it, too.
A Louisiana judge ruled the SEC isn’t allowed to punish schools if they play a college football player who returns to campus after signing a contract with an NFL team this summer.
In June, the NCAA changed its eligibility rules to where an athlete can play five seasons in a five-year period. A group of seniors whose eligibility ended in 2026-27 were not available to play, but some counter sued to become eligible. The latest ruling prompted lawsuits and rules from conferences to prevent it.
“We’ll figure it out when we get there,” Hudson said. “I ain’t really worried about college football. I’m in the NFL, that’s what I’m focused on right now.”
