ARLINGTON, Texas. (KOLN) – Nebraska opened the “Spikes Under the Lights” tournament with a two-set semifinal win over Florida on Thursday, advancing to the championship later in the evening.
Nebraska took the first set 21-19 before winning the second 21-18. Teraya Sigler led with 6 kills, while Andi Jackson had 5 kills and 3 blocks.
The Huskers will play the winner of Penn State and SMU in the championship match.
The first-of-its-kind tournament is a four-team exhibition with a $1 million prize pool.
The court spans between the 30-yard lines, with most of the seating spread throughout the 100,000-plus-capacity stadium. The glass west end will be covered with a curtain during the match.
The tournament is designed to be fast-paced. Each match is best-of-three sets, with the first two sets being first to 21 points. The third set is first to 15.
