The store reopened with limited items available as employees work to restock refrigerated products, prepared meals and other cold items following the storm. MySA visited the store Sunday morning, and customers may see limited selections in some areas as staff continues replenishing products and getting the location fully stocked.
The storm moved through the San Antonio area Friday evening, bringing strong winds and heavy rain and causing widespread power outages across the city. At one time, the storm left more than 100,000 CPS Energy customers without power, some for more than 24 to 48 hours.
H-E-B wasn’t the only business to close a store on Saturday, August 29, because of the storm. Morgan’s Wonderland, Santikos Galaxy, and Panifico Bake Shop also closed because of power outages or storm damage.
As of 9:15 a.m., more than 25,000 customers are without power in San Antonio, according to a CPS Energy outage map. CPS Energy wrote on X at 7:19 a.m. on Sunday that the company understands the frustration of its customers who remain without power, adding that its crews are working to repair the damage left from Friday night’s storm.
“As of 7 AM, our teams continue responding to 654 weather-related outages across our service area. Since Friday night’s storms, we have received more than 600 downed-wire orders and issued over 120 tree-trimming jobs, demonstrating the extensive storm damage and the work required across our community,” CPS Energy wrote. “Please know that clearing trees and storm debris remains one of the biggest challenges, as our crews must safely access damaged equipment before repairs can be made and power restored.
