A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing a woman in east Fort Worth early Sunday, police said.
Officers responded about 2:45 a.m. to the stabbing at the 2100 block of Handley Drive, when officers arrived they were redirected to the 6000 block of Oakland Hills Drive, where they found a woman with apparent stab wounds, police said in a news release.
The Fort Worth Fire Department provided medical aid, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said homicide detectives were called to the scene and a person of interest was detained. Jaykel Vanegas Martinez, 21, was arrested about 9:30 a.m. and faces a murder charge in connection to the stabbing, according to Fort Worth jail records.
The woman will be publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
