Fans who guessed Texas Tech’s Jones AT&T Stadium after Strait’s cryptic X post on Thursday nailed it.

HOUSTON — George Strait is taking his stadium tour straight back to Texas next spring. On Friday, the King of Country announced an April 25, 2026, concert at the Jones A&T Stadium, home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, in Lubbock.

Fellow Texans Miranda Lambert and Hudson Westbrook will open for Strait.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 21. Sign up for the presale for a chance to buy tickets on Monday, November 17, at 10 a.m.

The country music legend caused a lot of buzz on Thursday with a cryptic message on X that teased “an announcement incoming for the Lone Star State.” The post included a “Take Me to Texas” graphic.

Some Red Raider fans guessed correctly that a Lubbock concert is on the horizon, thanks to the horse and oil field pump, which hinted it was something to do with West Texas.

“That graphic looks like West Texas. I assume this is a Texas Tech show,” one X follower wrote.

Aggies were hoping that Strait was planning an encore performance at Kyle Field, where he kicked off the stadium tour last summer.

In June 2024, of course, Strait thrilled a sold-out crowd with the first-ever concert at the home of the Aggies in College Station. Strait announced that more than 110,905 people were in attendance. At the time, it was a new record for the most-attended ticketed concert ever in the United States, but fellow country star Zach Bryan eclipsed the mark a few weeks ago in Michigan.

Since the Kyle Field show, Strait has sold out stadiums this summer in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough, Massachusetts and Inglewood, California. The only 2026 concert listed on his website as of Thursday is a May 2 show with Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores at Clemson Memorial Stadium in South Carolina.

His only Texas performance this year was an intimate benefit in Boerne in July that raised $6.25 million for Hill Country flood victims.

Strait also made headlines when President Donald Trump announced he would be one of this year’s Kennedy Center honorees, along with Sylvester Stallone, KISS, singer Gloria Gaynor and actor-singer Michael Crawford. This year’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony will take place on Dec. 7 and will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
