Here are 10 players to watch during Week 2 of the Texas high school football season.

Steven Hall, Mansfield Timberview, QB

Mansfield Timberview at Denton Ryan, 7 p.m. Thursday at Denton’s C.H. Collins Stadium

In a 69-7 rout of West Mesquite in Week 1, the junior was 20-of-28 passing for 326 yards and six touchdowns. Hall connected with three different receivers for touchdowns in the win.

Beckhem Parker, Allen, DL

DeSoto at Allen, 7 p.m. Friday at Allen’s Eagle Stadium

He recorded five tackles for loss and three sacks in the second half of Allen’s 26-7 win over Duncanville, the nation’s 10th-ranked team. The performance by Parker and the entire Allen defense helped the program to its 22nd consecutive regular-season victory.

Zephyr Kreye, Anna, QB

Brock at Anna, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Anna’s Coyote Stadium

In his debut as Anna’s new starting quarterback, Kreye was 19-of-24 passing for 232 yards and four touchdowns. The senior also rushed for 60 yards and two scores in the season-opening 49-31 win over Colleyville Heritage. Kreye holds offers from Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU and others.

Hayden Smith, Prosper Walnut Grove, WR

Hebron at Prosper Walnut Grove, 7 p.m. Thursday at Prosper ISD’s Children’s Health Stadium

Smith, a junior, had a game-high seven catches for 100 yards and a touchdown in Walnut Grove’s 49-28 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge in Week 1. 

Jeremiah Tabor, Melissa, RB

Denton Guyer at Melissa, 7 p.m. Friday at Melissa’s Coach Kenny Deel Stadium

He rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns in Melissa’s 63-21 win over Arkansas’ Pulaski Academy. The four-star junior holds offers from Baylor, Florida State, Kansas State and others.

Antonio Smith, North Crowley, DE

Southlake Carroll at North Crowley, 7 p.m. Friday at Crowley ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium

The senior was disruptive in North Crowley’s 26-0 shutout of 12-time UIL state champion Aledo in Week 1. Smith recorded 10 tackles (4 solo), 6 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in the win.

Marcus McCoy, Prosper, WR

Prosper at North Forney, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Forney’s Better Life Stadium

McCoy had a game-high five catches for 110 yards and three touchdowns in Prosper’s 56-37 win over Rockwall last week. The senior averaged 22 yards per reception.

Laykon Brassfield, Lewisville, QB

Trophy Club Byron Nelson at Lewisville, 7 p.m. Friday at Lewisville’s Max Goldsmith Stadium

The junior led Lewisville to a 56-42 win over Highland Park in Week 1, finishing 16-of-21 passing for 247 yards and five touchdowns. Brassfield also rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Antwian Thomas, Terrell, RB

Argyle at Terrell, 7 p.m. Friday at Terrell’s Memorial Stadium

He helped Terrell to a 49-41 win over Arlington Seguin in the season opener. Thomas rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown, recording more yards of offense than any other player in the game.

Jashawn Crayton, Waxahachie, WR

Coppell at Waxahachie, 7 p.m. Friday at Waxahachie’s Lumpkins Stadium

The three-star sophomore recorded seven catches for 193 yards and three touchdowns in Waxahachie’s dominant 72-14 win over Ennis. Crayton averaged 27.6 yards per reception. He holds offers from Arizona, Texas A&M and others.
