LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – After a recent warm stretch, it looks like Fall finally remembered us. A cold front this weekend will bring gusty winds and chillier temperatures.
Friday will be noticeably cooler than yesterday but still warm and mild. Temperature will be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, with highs in the 70s, about ten degrees cooler than yesterday’s warmth, as a cold front will move through the area this morning.

Other than a slight uptick in winds for a few hours this morning, there won’t be many noticeable changes.
Winds will start off breezy but calm down this afternoon(KCBD)
Winds are expected to die down as we reach the afternoon under sunny skies.
A stronger colder front is charging toward the region and expected to sweep across the South Plains early Saturday morning bringing a period of gusty north winds in its wake.
Expect strong gusty winds on Sunday(KCBD)
The front should reach Lubbock by mid-morning, although it could arrive earlier. Expect a quick switch from mild southerly breezes to a blast of cooler drier air out of the north.
Winds will be stiff coming from the north at 20-30 mph and gusts 40-45 mph are possible throughout the day.
Temperatures will take a hard down swing this weekend(KCBD)
Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to mid 70s with lots of sunshine. If you’re planning to watch the Red Raider plan for winds, dust, and pack the chapstick.
Overnight lows will dip into 30s and by Sunday, the front’s full punch will be felt. Despite sunshine, highs will struggle to hit the low 50s. A light breeze expected to linger which may may it feel several degrees cooler.

Monday morning will likely be the coldest of the season so far with lows in the mid to upper 20s across most of the area. Be sure to cover your plants, outdoor faucets, exposed pips, and bring your pets indoors.
After Monday’s chill, highs are expected to rebound into the 70s-80s by midweek.
