SAN ANTONIO – A man was detained after allegedly stabbing another man who was trying to break up a fight on the South Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers responded to the stabbing just before midnight Saturday in the 6100 block of Padre Drive.

Police said a 28-year-old man was asked to leave the location after a verbal altercation with others gathered there. The man then began physically fighting with several people when the 33-year-old victim attempted to intervene.

While trying to separate the group, the victim was stabbed in the torso, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

The man was detained at the scene and later booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, SAPD said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
