Outside of maybe Terry Black’s, arguably no Texas barbecue business has been as busy the last few years as Hurtado Barbecue. Pitmaster Brandon Hurtado’s Arlington-based restaurant brand has expanded across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex a few times; plus, the chef and his wife Hannah recently dipped into Tex-Mex with their Loma TXMX at Choctaw Stadium.
The latest addition to the Hurtado family is a location in the DFW suburb of Argyle, which was announced in late 2025. But some changes are afoot with this development.
The Hurtados last week provided an update on the Argyle location to their fans. Hurtado said instead taking over an old restaurant space on U.S. Route 377 in the heart of Argyle, they will move into the new Argyle Marktplace, a new retail development under construction just up the block. And their restaurant will be in a new structure.
“We’re proud to announce that we’ll be part of the new Argyle Marketplace off 377 and 407 with a brand new building and beautiful patio facing the Argyle nature preserve,” Brandon Hurtado wrote in an Aug. 25 Facebook post. The new Hurtado is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
When the Hurtados announced the expansion into Argyle last year, they noted that they lived in the town seven miles south of Denton.
“After years of raising our family in Argyle, coaching sports here and delivering food to friends and family nearby, we’ve finally been blessed with the opportunity to open our FIFTH Hurtado Barbecue location in the heart of Argyle,” read the announcement in November 2025.
Hurtado specializes in Central Texas barbecue with some Tex-Mex flavor thrown in. There’s brisket, pork spare ribs and pulled pork, plus a hatch chile macaroni and cheese, garlic chorizo green beans and Mexican street corn. There are already four locations of Hurtado: Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth and Mansfield. Plus, the barbecue brand has a solid presence at the Rangers’ Globe Life Field, where fans can purchase, among other goodies, beef ribs and birria tacos.
