Shooting happened Saturday night in the 500 block of South Monumental Street

SAN ANTONIO – A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized after a shooting on the East Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 500 block of South Monumental Street, near Martin Luther King Drive. Upon arrival, police said they found the teen with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.
SAPD said the teen told officers he was in the area when he heard gunshots coming from a wooded area.
The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined, police said. No arrests have been made.
The investigation is ongoing.
