SAN ANTONIO – Community Bible Church is mobilizing volunteers for two debris clean-up efforts in San Antonio after recent storms damaged property and left storm debris behind.
The church’s TODAY Response Team is asking people who are available Sunday, Aug. 30, and Monday, Aug. 31, to help at two locations.
The first effort is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Salvation Army shelter at 521 W. Elmira, San Antonio, TX 78212. Volunteers are being asked to look for the administrative door, where Major Jeremiah is expected to be onsite directing volunteers. The Salvation Army shelter suffered damage from the storms, and volunteers are needed to help pick up debris and load roll-off dumpsters under the direction of the shelter’s property management team.
Community Bible Church said volunteers should bring work gloves and a water bottle and wear long pants, sunscreen, a hat and appropriate outdoor work shoes.
A second clean-up is planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to help with debris at a personal home. Volunteers are asked to meet at CBC Central, 2477 N. Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232, and look for Pastor Lloyd Blank in front of the administration building.
The church said its response team will provide wheelbarrows, chainsaws, rakes, garbage bags and other equipment, though volunteers are welcome to bring personal equipment that may be helpful.
Community Bible Church is asking people who can serve to sign up as soon as possible. You can sign up at the link here.
