MINOR DETAINED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS IN CRASH — A Fort Worth minor was detained and later released to his parents following a high-speed chase that began in Wise County early Friday morning. Wise County Chief Deputy Eric Debus said the chase with a blue Hyundai — later reported stolen out of Wise County — occupied by two people began at 2:10 a.m. at the intersection of Texas 114 and Farm Road 718 in Aurora. Debus said the vehicle then ran the red light and the corporal attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle then took off at a high rate of speed traveling on Farm Road 718. The chase continued into Newark, at which time the Rhome Police Department provided backup at the intersection of Farm Road 3433. The driver of the Hyundai then led law enforcement at a high rate of speed onto U.S. 81/287 south toward Fort Worth. The chase ended as the vehicle attempted to take the Bonds Ranch Road exit and left the roadway, crashing into a field. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries at the scene by Fort Worth EMS, while deputies contacted his parents. He was later released into the custody of his mother, according to Debus. FOOTBALL RESULTS — Decatur (1-0) opened coach Cliff Watkins’ tenure with a 55-13 win over Eagle Mountain Friday. Bridgeport (1-0) shut out Gainesville in its season home-opener, 38-0. Boyd (1-0) held on late to clinch a 33-26 home win over Tolar. Paradise (1-0) also opened its season with a win at home, earning a 42-32 victory over former district rival Ponder. Alvord (1-0) started its 2026 campaign by knocking off Howe, 30-20. Chico (0-1) suffered a 28-7 season-opening loss to Archer City. Northwest (0-1) came up short in its Week 1 battle against Flower Mound Marcus, 41-38. VCA (1-1) found the win column with a 51-50 road win over Fort Worth THESA.

VOLLEYBALL RESULTS — Decatur (15-10) claimed a 1-3 record at the Colleyville tournament last week with a win over Eaton and losses to Byron Nelson, Amarillo and Coppell. Bridgeport (11-14) split six matches at the Callisburg tournament. The Sissies defeated Pilot Point, Valley View and VCA, and suffered losses to Denton Calvary, S&S and Lipan. Boyd (12-8) captured a 5-2 run at the Nocona tournament, losing to Lindsay and Stephenville before sparking five straight wins over Christ Academy, Lake Dallas, Bowie, Dumas and Windthorst. Paradise (18-7) also added a 5-2 finish at the Nocona tournament with wins against Childress, Dumas, Collinsville, North Hopkins and Iowa Park, and defeats against Alvord and Aubrey. Alvord (12-10) was 3-3 at the Nocona tournament. The Lady Bulldogs earned victories against Paradise, Childress and Peaster, and lost to Aubrey, Lindsay and Tolar. VCA (12-7) took home a 2-3 record from the Callisburg tournament, beating Valley View and Muenster Sacred Heart, and losing to Pottsboro, Callisburg and Bridgeport. On Friday, Chico (9-6) earned its ninth win of the season by beating Krum in four sets — 25-19, 15-25, 25-18, 25-23. Northwest (10-11) captured a 3-1 win over McKinney Saturday — 25-12, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21.
