Landfall of Tropical Storm Edouard will be early Tuesday afternoon. It is forecast to be a 60-mph storm.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Chambers County including the Bolivar Peninsula. Winds in Chambers County will range from 40 to 60mph with stronger gusts. Affected cities will be High Island, Crystal Beach and Bolivar. When winds are this strong, power outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is in effect for half of Southeast Texas starting late Monday and lasting through Wednesday morning. 3-5 inches of rain with isolated amounts of 6 to 9 inches are possible with the highest totals most likely occurring east of I-45. Below are possible rain totals for SE Texas.

Because Edouard hasn’t spent a lot of time over water the storm surge will be less impactful. From Galveston to Chambers County a 1 to 2′ rise is expected. Closer to the Texas/Louisiana state line peak surge is expected to be 4-6′.

Even through Edouard moves out Tuesday night, left over tropical moisture will create more afternoon thunderstorms Wednesday. In fact, we may see afternoon storms through the beginning of the holiday weekend.
