EL PASO, Texas (KFOX 14, CBS4) — The San Diego Padres are calling up top prospect Ethan Salas up to the major league roster.

The 20-year old catcher has spent 24 games with the El Paso Chihuahuas. With El Paso, Salas hit .326 and had 11 extra base hits. He hit 3 home runs and had a .949 OPS. Salas was the youngest player in AAA during his time with El Paso.

Salas was first signed as an international free agent in 2023. Salas spent time growing up in Florida, the Domincan Republic and Venezuela. His father Antonio played minor league baseball in the Braves organization. His brothers Jose and Andrew play in the minor league systems for the Twins and Marlins organizations.

The Padres are currently on a road trip against the Cincinnati Reds.
