While Austin may be best known for its barbecue and legendary live music scene, the city is also home to coveted lakefront real estate. Four of the city’s top ten residential sales last year took place on Lake Austin, according to Forbes, including one that traded for $16.9 million. Another home on the shore of the lake offers 180-degree views, along with a two-slip boat dock.
Perched about 60 feet above the water, the modern residence sits on over half an acre atop the limestone cliffs of a former 1920s quarry. Scott Specht of Specht Novak Architect designed the residence, which was completed in 2012 with just over 6,000 square feet featuring three bedrooms and four full bathrooms.

The lakefront residence, updated in 2024, initially came to market for $19.5 million before returning to the market at a discounted $14 million with Michael Reisor of Compass.
At the highest point of the property, an antique door is set into a glass wall, creating a striking visual contrast against the entry’s wood-plank paneling and concrete walls. A family room with outdoor access, an office, and two bedrooms are one floor down while a floating staircase slinks down to the great room on the house’s lower level, which features reclaimed 250-year-old Boston Harbor white oak flooring and steel-framed windows overlooking the landscape. The primary suite has high ceilings, a tiled bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Just outside is a deck with an outdoor shower. Outdoor spaces include a terrace that runs the length of the house and an expansive roof terrace, plus the dock, all with exceptional views over the lake.

Plans for a second residence have been prepared with a condo regime but have not been filed, while conceptual designs by Specht envision a pool and the transformation of an unfinished stone structure into a guesthouse or pool pavilion.
