Man found roommate dead after being away for several days

HOUSTON – A man was found dead inside a closet under the stairs of a southwest Houston apartment, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death as suspicious.
Houston police officers responded around 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to an apartment in the 10200 block of Harwin Drive after a report of a deceased man.
According to police, a man told investigators he had been away from his apartment for several days. When he returned, he found his roommate dead inside the closet under the stairs.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police have not released the man’s identity. His cause of death is also unknown pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The investigation is ongoing.
