LUBBOCK, Texas — UMC Health System announced it is set to host the 2026 Fall Prevention Event, a community-focused educational program designed to help individuals reduce their risk of falls and maintain a safe, active lifestyle.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the UMC Outpatient Center, located at 7105 Kewanee Avenue.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with a range of community health and wellness providers offering critical resources, mobility assessments, and expert advice.

UMC said the goal of the event is to ensure every participant leaves equipped with the tools and knowledge they need for better health and mobility.

Attendees can expect a variety of services and activities, including:

Fall risk assessments conducted by Physical Therapists

Balance classes offered by UMC’s Activities Center

Information on staying active in the community

Hearing and memory/cognition screenings

Insights into UMC’s Rx Perks Clinic and UMC Health & Wellness Hospital

Home safety tips from Lubbock Fire Rescue and UMC’s Burn and Trauma Team

“This event is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn more about fall prevention and take advantage of free screenings and resources from our community’s top health and wellness providers,” said Janell Miller, M.S. CCC-SLP, Speech Pathologist at UMC Team Rehab Center.
