The prescheduled Karen as Dolly performance takes on a new meaning this weekend following the passing of Dolly Parton.
Following Dolly Parton’s death earlier this week, Legacy Hall is hosting a Dolly Parton tribute.
While the tribute was already on the books before the news of her passing broke, the night will take on a different meaning, a representative of Legacy Hall said in a news release.
“Following Dolly’s passing, what was originally planned as a fun night celebrating one of country music’s most beloved performers will now become an opportunity for North Texas fans to come together, sing the songs they grew up with and celebrate a woman who brought so much joy to generations of people,” the representative said.
Karen as Dolly is a Dolly Parton tribute artist who has been performing since 2011, according to her social media.
In the spirit of Parton’s focus on childhood literacy, Legacy Hall will donate $1 from every ticket sold to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, and guests are encouraged to bring new children’s books to donate.
The concert, Dolly Parton Tribute: Karen as Dolly, will take place Friday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online, starting at $17.96 for standing room or $136.17+ for table reservations.
