I’m not a gamer, but if you asked me lately, you might think otherwise because I know way more about Grand Theft Auto VI than I ever expected to!
Why? My nephews.

GTA 6 is pretty much all they can talk about right now, and with all the excitement surrounding the game, it got me thinking:

What would a GTA game look like if it were set in El Paso?

Grand Theft Auto: El Paso may not be real, but El Pasoans already know exactly what missions they’d want to see in the game.

GTA 6 Is Finally Coming This November

After a very long wait- and a couple of delays- Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to arrive November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The new game takes players back to Vice City and introduces two main characters, Jason and Lucia, who find themselves caught up in a criminal conspiracy stretching across the fictional state of Leonida.

And fans just got their biggest look at the game yet.

Rockstar recently released a 27-minute extended look featuring actual gameplay, more of Jason and Lucia’s story and a much better look at the massive world players will get to explore.

I’m sure my nephews could give you a much more detailed breakdown. But all the GTA talk in my house got me wondering what would happen if Rockstar skipped Leonida and headed west.

What Would GTA Missions Look Like in El Paso?

I asked our KLAQ Facebook followers to imagine Grand Theft Auto: El Paso and come up with missions that could only happen here.

And let’s just say this fictional game started writing itself pretty quickly! Here are some of my favorites:

Cross pounds from Juárez back into El Paso.Cross back into El Paso without getting caught by Border Patrol after a drunken night in Juárez.Drive from Cincinnati to Eastlake on a Saturday night without crashing.SIDE MISSION: Go fishing for glowing fish at Ascarate Lake.Avoid getting caught and ending up on FitFam.Make a Chico’s Tacos run that ends with a chase through the city.Hang out at Red Sands and make it home in one piece.Survive a haboob.

Tell me you can’t already picture some of these missions popping up on the screen!

Grand Theft Auto El Paso Could Totally Happen

Okay, probably not. But the more you think about it, the more El Paso starts sounding like a pretty entertaining GTA map.

You’ve got the Franklin Mountains cutting right through the middle of the city, Downtown, Scenic Drive, Red Sands, the border and an interstate that can turn an ordinary drive across town into an adventure all by itself.

And that’s before we even get into all the little El Paso details a game could have fun with.

Would Rockstar ever make Grand Theft Auto: El Paso? I wouldn’t hold my breath.

But if it ever happens, El Pasoans already have plenty of missions ready to go. And after hearing GTA 6 discussed nonstop in my house, I have a feeling my nephews would be first in line to play it.
