EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — New data obtained by KFOX14/CBS4 reveals the amount of alleged assaults on teachers and educators across El Paso’s largest school districts, raising safety concerns among parents.
Over the past five years, El Paso ISD reported the highest number of incidents, followed by Ysleta ISD, with Socorro ISD reporting the fewest.

In the current school year, El Paso ISD has already seen 17 assaults on teachers so far, compared to 44 in 2024-25, and 28 in 2023-24.
Ysleta ISD reported 14 incidents this year so far, 23 in 2024-25, and 17 in 2023-24.
Socorro ISD has reported one incident this year so far, seven in 2024-25, and five in 2023-24.
Parents are alarmed by the statistics.
One parent expressed, “It’s shocking, because I didn’t know about that.”
Another said, “It’s zero. We shouldn’t have these problems. We shouldn’t.”
Some parents believe the solution begins at home, emphasizing the importance of parental involvement in children’s behavior.

El Paso ISD responded to the data, stating,
El Paso ISD takes the safety and well-being of our educators and staff very seriously. El Paso ISD maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of violence or aggression toward staff or students. The district remains committed to fostering safe, supportive learning environments across all campuses. We continue to work closely with our campuses and law enforcement partners to ensure swift responses and support whenever incidents occur.
Ysleta ISD responded to the data, stating,
As always, Ysleta ISD remains deeply committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and secure environment, where every student and staff member feels valued and protected. The figures reflect only a snapshot in time and the numbers for 2025 are not final and remain subject to change based on investigative findings. Although year-to-year fluctuations are typical and do not necessarily support a trend or suggest an overall increase in these types of incidents, we take each situation seriously and use every available resource to promptly address any incidents, issues, or concerns to protect the well-being of our staff and students.
