LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The 2026 Global Sorghum Conference is coming to Lubbock this month, and registration for the event is still open.
It is the first time Lubbock has hosted the conference and the first time it has been held in the U.S.
Growers, researchers and industry leaders will gather at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center from Sept. 14 through Sept. 18.

Texas Tech researcher among conference experts
Texas Tech University says the conference will include presentations, workshops, networking events, award ceremonies and field tours.
Yinping Jiao, an associate professor of crop population genomics at the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance at Texas Tech University, is among the experts scheduled to attend, according to the release.
Jiao’s research uses genomic approaches to study the genetic diversity and regulatory mechanisms of agricultural traits, with the goal of aiding crop breeding. Her research also examines how genetic variation and genome structure lead to diverse crop form and structure to expand adaptation of cultivated crops to climate change, according to the release.
Jiao is one of several experts who will be available for interviews during the conference.
