Several school districts east and north of Houston will remain closed on Wednesday while tens of thousands of Texans continue to go without power in the wake of Tropical Storm Edouard.
The National Weather Service had issued tropical storm warnings for Chambers County and southern Liberty County but later dropped those as Edouard moved inland. More than 56,800 utility customers still had no power early Wednesday morning.

The remnants of the tropical storm are also set to bring heavy rainfall to the Houston area on Wednesday with lightning and gusty winds. Rain bands that repeatedly pass over the same area could dump more than 10 inches of rain along a slim region between Liberty and Huntsville.
Water could rapidly rise on streets, in low-lying areas and space with poor drainage.
