LUBBOCK, Texas– The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has identified the man who was found unconscious with serious injuries in an overnight assault previously reported by EverythingLubbock.com.

LPD has idented the victim of the assault to be 27-year-old Gabriel Tafoya.

LPD said officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Slide Road at 12:29 a.m. on Friday, August 29, for a report of a civil disturbance involving an unconscious man outside an apartment later identified as Tafoya.

Upon arrival, officers located the Tafoya on the ground with serious injuries. Officers provided aid until he was transported by EMS to University Medical Center. The initial investigation indicated Tafoya attended a gathering at an apartment prior to an altercation that occurred outside in the parking lot. During the altercation, the victim was assaulted by multiple individuals.

Officers located and detained Lezhane Walker, 23, at the scene. Following further investigation by Major Crimes detectives, Walker was arrested for Aggravated Assault.
