Six Plano food establishments were closed for serious health violations and others had problems with rodents and roaches, according to the latest city health inspections.
The inspection database compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from Aug. 16 through Aug. 22 and 113 inspections.
Plano’s restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Each establishment receives between one and four routine inspections per year.
Six restaurants were temporarily closed due to critical violations:
Sonic Drive In #1240, located at 721 Jupiter Road, had a score of 51. The establishment’s permit was suspended after inspectors found the location to have inadequate sewage disposal and dishwashing facilities. The permit was later reinstated after a follow-up inspection, where the restaurant scored a 97.Tazikis Plano, located at 8305 Preston Road, had a score of 57. The restaurant was closed because it lacked enough cold storage.Shaahi Biryani, located at 3421 E. Renner Road, had a score of 59. The restaurant closed because it scored below 70 at the time of inspection. A food service permit was reinstated after a follow-up inspection.Nizam’s Biryaniwala, located at 909 W. Spring Creek Parkway, had a score of 66. Inspectors suspended the permit because of an untreated roach infestation at the time of inspection. The location remained closed after a follow-up inspection.Taco Bell, located at 1340 Jupiter Road, was closed because the establishment had no water service after a utility main break. The location later reopened once water service was restored.Pie Tap, located at 1900 Preston Road, was closed because inspectors found rodent droppings near food preparation equipment. The establishment’s permit was not reinstated after a follow-up inspection.

Sushi Shack, located at 3291 Independence Parkway, had a score of 73. The establishment was noted to have issues with both rodents and roaches.Taco Rico, located at 705 18th St., had a score of 75. Inspectors found multiple live and dead roaches in the restaurant.Quiktrip #898, located at 650 K Ave., had a score of 89. Multiple dead roaches were found on a glue trap near soda machine equipment.
