It’s been four years since the mass shooting at Robb Elementary claimed the lives of 21 people, and for all those years a local woman has worked to keep the memories of the lives lost alive. But now she’s tired and asking for help making the memorial at Robb Elementary.
Sinc the tragedy happened Teresa Nera says she felt a connection to each soul lost.
“It’s very important to me because they should be here,” Nera said.
“For the first two years the 70-year-old traveled nearly 40 minutes from Hondo twice a month to tend to the memorial. She laminated photos, put flowers in vases, and more. Then she moved to Uvalde in 2024 allowing her to upkeep the memorial daily, but she hasn’t been able to clean up the memorial since July.
“I was very tired,” Nera said. “I’ve gotten some energy back. But I also need to take care of some things I’ve put aside for a while.”
Nera resigned from taking care of the memorial at Robb Elementary on the 4th anniversary of the tragedy.
She’s hoping to find six dedicated families to take up the task.
