WASHINGTON (TNND) — Delta and American Airlines announced that they will match Trump Accounts for their employees’ children, which the White House confirmed.

“Trump Accounts are taking off. Both Delta and American Airlines announced they will match the federal $1,000 contribution to Trump Accounts for children of their employees,” the White House posted on X on Wednesday.

Delta announced on Wednesday that it will match the $1,000 federal contribution to Trump Accounts for employees’ children who are eligible to participate.

“Delta people have made it clear they want to take advantage of every opportunity to build a solid financial foundation for themselves and their families,” the airline’s executive vice president and chief people officer, Allison Ausband, said in a statement.

“This match is the latest in our ongoing commitment to invest in our people and their financial wellbeing through profit sharing, base pay raises, our Emergency Savings Program and more.”

American children eligible for the $1,000 federal contribution are those born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028.

On Monday, American Airlines announced that it will also match the $1,000 federal contribution for its employees’ eligible children, CNBC reported. The airline said that thousands of employees’ children will be eligible.

“At American Airlines, our purpose is to care for people on life’s journey, and that includes helping our team members build a strong financial future for themselves and their families,” airline CEO Robert Isom told CNBC.

While Trump Accounts are available for all U.S. children under age 18, only those born from 2025 to 2028 are eligible for the $1,000 initial deposit from the Treasury.

After an account is created, parents, guardians, grandparents, and others can contribute up to $5,000 per year until the year before the beneficiary turns 18 years old.

The Treasury Department has proposed regulations that would allow employees to fund their children’s accounts with pretax dollars from their paychecks.

American Airlines said that once the rules become final, it plans to allow eligible employees to contribute up to $2,500 of pretax earnings annually to a Trump Account starting in 2027.

“We appreciate the Trump Administration and Congress for creating Trump Accounts and providing eligible children born between 2025 and 2028 with a $1,000 federal contribution,” Isom said.

“We’re proud to build on that investment by matching the federal contribution for eligible children of our team members and offering other eligible team members the opportunity to make pretax contributions to their children’s accounts.”

According to the Treasury Department, more than 50 companies have committed to contributing to Trump Accounts for their workers in some capacity.

“It is encouraging to see our nation’s leading companies, including American Airlines, supporting this effort by offering matching contributions for their employees,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC.

In June, the Treasury announced that more than 5.5 million Trump Accounts had been opened, 1.4 million of which are eligible for the $1,000 federal contribution.
