RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. – Ruidoso Downs will move the Quarter Horse Racing Triple Crown Series, the All-American Super Select Sale and its Hall of Fame to Texas in 2027.
Ruidoso Downs Race Track General Manager Rick Baugh announced Thursday that owners Johnny and Jana Trotter agreed on a framework with Global Gaming Solutions for the move to Grand Prairie, Texas.
The Triple Crown Series includes the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity, the $1 million Rainbow Futurity and the $3 million All-American Futurity.
The move follows major setbacks at the racetrack in Ruidoso Downs. The All-American Futurity moved to Albuquerque for 2025 and 2026 after deadly flooding in the Ruidoso area, and efforts to rehabilitate the racetrack have faced severe setbacks.
“Following the fires and floods of recent years, we have taken a hard look at what comes next and evaluated every realistic path forward,” Rick Baugh said. “Our responsibility has always been to protect not just a place but a legacy.”
“This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is the right one,” Baugh said.
