SAN ANTONIO — As of Sept. 1, CPS Energy has fully restored power after severe storms cut electricity to more than 250,000 customers.
According to CPS Energy, the Friday night storms brought 65 mph wind gusts and nearly 2,481 lightning strikes, causing extensive infrastructure damage. Repair efforts required replacing over 60 utility poles, 137 transformers, and clearing debris from hundreds of fallen trees.
More than 80 crews—assisted by contractors and Pedernales Electric Cooperative—worked around the clock to restore service. The utility’s Customer Response Unit also provided food, water, and ice to over 1,000 affected residents at Woodlawn Lake Park.
CPS Energy thanked the community for its patience as crews worked to restore service to all outages.
