SAPD: 1 dead, 1 injured after shooting at East Side home

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — One man is dead and another is hospitalized after a fight led to a shooting Thursday night inside a home on the East Side late Thursday night.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded around 9:13 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lamar Street following an initial report of a possible home invasion. Police later determined that the adult male resident knew the men involved in the altercation.

Investigators say a fight broke out inside the residence between the victim and two men, during which several shots were fired.

Both suspects fled the scene on foot. Police later found one of the suspects unresponsive behind a home in the 1200 block of Hays Street with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The second suspect remains at large.

The resident was also wounded, suffering a gunshot wound to the ankle and a graze wound to the arm. He was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
