Texas football is a heavy favorite in its opening week game against Texas State, and some fans are already looking ahead to the Week 2 matchup against Ohio State. UT coach Steve Sarkisian said Texas State is not a typical mid-major opponent, and he dropped a bold statement ahead of Saturday’s contest. “Don’t be surprised at the end of November if they’re not in the talk of making the College Football Playoff,” Sarkisian said. He called Texas State “a really good team” and said the Bobcats have his players’ attention. Texas State coach GJ Kinne has kept his quarterback for the first time in his head coaching career, and Brad Jackson finished sixth last season in total points accounted for with two returning 1,000-yard wide receivers, Chris Dawn Jr. and Beau Sparks.
