Fort Worth police are searching for a man accused of shooting a hotel security guard after he was confronted while checking vehicle doors inside a parking garage near The Crescent Hotel early Thursday morning.
The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. at the hotel’s garage on Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth’s Cultural District. The wounded security guard was taken for medical treatment after being shot in the arm and is expected to make a full recovery.
Suspect Confronted in Parking Garage
Surveillance video shows a man walking through the garage and appearing to check whether vehicles were unlocked, according to police.
A security guard approached the man and told him to leave the property. Police said the suspect initially complied and began walking toward the garage’s east exit.
As he was leaving, investigators said the man pulled out a handgun and fired several shots toward hotel security personnel.
One guard was struck in the arm. Police said the suspect immediately fled the garage and ran eastbound from the area.
Police Release Suspect Description
Authorities described the suspect as a Hispanic male with long, floppy hair. He was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans at the time of the shooting.
Fort Worth police are asking residents, businesses, and anyone who was in the area early Thursday to review available surveillance or cellphone video that could help identify the gunman.
Officer Daniel Segura said investigators consider the suspect a serious threat because he fired a weapon toward people in the area.
Hotel Praises Security Team
The Crescent Hotel expressed support for its security personnel following the shooting.
“We are enormously proud of how our security team handled this situation,” hotel representatives said.
Police continue to search for the suspect, who remains at large.
