Residents of the American Dream City use water everyday. Now, imagine a life in Arlington without it. How would we brush our teeth? Wash our hair? These things are crucial to our life and Arlington Water Utilities is celebrating this precious resource with its A Dream in Every Drop Mini-Poster Contest.
Starting Sept. 8, 2026, kids in kindergarten through 3rd grade who live in Arlington or attend a school in Arlington can showcase their artistic talent by entering the poster competition. Because water makes dreams possible, this year’s theme is “A Dream in Every Drop!” We want our students to show us how their dreams include safe, reliable water now and in the future.
Entries for this year’s contest will be accepted from Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Oct. 12, 2026. This contest is made possible thanks to Arlington Water Utilities and co-sponsors, Arlington Public Library, Tarrant Regional Water District, and River Legacy Nature Center.
Prizes include A VIP tour of the Arlington Water Treatment Plant, passes to City of Arlington swimming pools, a water or nature-themed LEGO set, tickets to the Discovery Room at River Legacy Nature Center, and water-themed books!
One winner from each grade will be announced on the Arlington Water Facebook Page on Oct.15, 2026 to coincide with the national Imagine a Day Without Water Day (IADWW), a day to see how crucial our need for water really is by visualizing life without it. Feel free to explore more about IADWW at https://thevalueofwater.org/.
Each winner and their teacher will receive an invitation to be recognized at an Arlington City Council Meeting in November 2026. The winning artwork will also be displayed in Arlington City Hall or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center this fall.
We WANT you to be creative! Feel free to use crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, or acrylic paints to create a colorful masterpiece.
On the back of your entry, a separate piece of paper, or in an email, please include:
Your first name
Grade
School you attend
Your parent’s or guardian’s phone number
Tell us what you drew and why
Once your artwork is done be sure to send us a picture or scan the paper and share it with us at waterconservation@arlingtontx.gov. or you can turn your entry in at any Arlington Public Library location, River Legacy Nature Center, or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center by the end of the day on Oct. 12, 2026.
