SAN ANTONIO — One man is dead, and a resident was hospitalized Thursday night after a home invasion led to a shootout on the city’s East Side, according to San Antonio police.
Officers responded around 9:13 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lamar Street. Police said a 40-year-old resident and a 40-year-old male suspect were inside when a second unidentified male suspect forced his way in with a handgun. A struggle over the weapon triggered a discharge while the first suspect also opened fire at the resident.
Both suspects fled on foot. Officers later found the second suspect dead from a chest wound behind a home in the 1200 block of Hays Street. The first suspect is at large.
The resident was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the ankle and a grazed arm.
