SAN ANTONIO – A 17-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash involving two pickup trucks Thursday morning was a student at Smithson Valley High School, Comal ISD confirmed.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash around 9 a.m. Sept. 3 on SH 46 near Stoney Creek. Investigators said a red Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling westbound when the rider failed to control his speed and traveled between a Ford pickup and a Chevrolet Silverado, striking both vehicles.
The rider was ejected and came to rest in the westbound bar ditch, according to DPS. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a letter to the Smithson Valley High School community, the district said one of its students had died and extended its “deepest and heartfelt sympathy” to the student’s family.
The district encouraged parents to support their children as they process the loss and said that counseling and student support staff are available.
