Fort Worth-based American Airlines on Wednesday, Sept. 2, unveiled its retrofitted Boeing 777-330, which features the most premium seats of any aircraft operated by a U.S. carrier.
The airline showed off the plane on Wednesday before the aircraft’s promotional flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to New York. The long-range aircraft is scheduled to make its first commercial flight on Wednesday night from New York to Buenos Aires.
“The aircraft is one of many examples that showcase Americans’ continued commitment to invest in our fleet and the customer experience with more premium offerings,” said Jim Moses, American Airlines senior vice president of DFW operations.

The aircraft will travel to the airline’s most popular routes, which include London, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, and Sydney.
The redesigned aircraft has 144 premium seats, including 70 Flagship Suites, 44 premium economy seats, and 30 extra legroom seats in the main cabin.
“It’s just a sea of business class seats that goes on and on,” Nat Pieper, American Airlines chief commercial officer said.

Flagship Suites are the redesigned Flagship First seats, which will be phased out on the Boeing 77-300ER on Nov. 19. For transcontinental flights, the Flagship First suites will be unavailable starting on March 28, 2027.
The new Flagship Suites have the capability to lie completely flat and have 21 to 22 inches of seat width, compared to 17 inches in economy. The Flagship Suites come with amenity kits, bedding pajamas, noise-canceling headphones, a wireless charging pad and privacy doors.

For flights using a wide-body plane, American Airlines flies exclusively Boeing aircrafts. Ryan Weir, vice president of commercial sales and marketing at Boeing, said it means a “great deal” to Boeing to partner with the airline.
“These airplanes connect America’s customers to destinations around the world, and we’re proud of the role our teams play in supporting America’s operation,” Weir said.
General interior features of the planes were also updated to enhance lighting and comfort throughout the aircraft.
“This airplane is the embodiment of America’s ambitions,” Pieper said.
