Three Tarrant County restaurants were closed and others had problems with rodents in the latest round of county health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The inspection database compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from Aug. 16 through Aug. 29 and 268 inspections.
Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Tarrant County inspects and scores all food-service establishments in the county except for those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.
Three establishments were closed:
Navajo Mini Mart, located at 7028 Navajo Trail in Lake Worth, had a score of 63. Management voluntarily closed the store until a three-compartment sink could be fixed to drain properly. A follow-up inspection found that a rodent infestation had damaged food products. Inspectors determined after a second follow-up that the store should be allowed to reopen.Rice Xpress, located at 6036 Lake Worth Boulevard in Lake Worth, had a score of 76. The establishment voluntarily closed due to a lack of refrigeration and later reopened with a score of 87.Bigs Bar And Grill / Dough Bros, located at 1601 Airport Freeway in Bedford, had a score of 84. The kitchen was ordered to close due to a cockroach infestation affecting food. The establishment was approved to reopen after two follow-up inspections.
