SAN ANTONIO – Former San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus is shifting into a new role at Pearl one week after he started working as head of security for the popular mixed-use development.
McManus will assist the Pearl in a “consulting role,” Silver Ventures and Pearl said in a statement Friday.
“At the conclusion of his first week, William McManus and Silver Ventures leadership met to assess the role and the security needs of the organization and quickly recognized that his greatest value to Pearl would be through a consulting role rather than a traditional full-time position,” the statement said. “Out of that discussion, both parties mutually agreed on that path and are thrilled to be working together.”
In a separate statement, McManus said he is “grateful for the opportunity to continue working with Pearl in a consulting capacity.”
“I have full confidence in the strength of the security operations in place and in the team’s ability to keep things running seamlessly,” McManus said. “I look forward to supporting that work and have nothing but respect for the team and look forward to what we’ll accomplish together.”
McManus retired from SAPD in July after nearly 20 years leading the department.
