Police said an intoxicated man and his nephew were asked to leave a southwest Houston restaurant; the man retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and opened fire toward the business, striking a 30-something man in the torso and leg. HOUSTON – A man was hospitalized after being randomly struck by gunfire outside a southwest Houston restaurant late Saturday night, according to the Houston Police Department.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. near Beechnut Street and Corporate Drive. Investigators said a man and his nephew became intoxicated inside the restaurant, prompting security and the owner to ask them to leave.
Once outside, the suspect reportedly went back to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and began shooting toward the business. A man in his 30s, who was outside with a witness, was hit in the torso and leg. Police said the victim was not believed to have been targeted.
The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigators have identified the suspect, who is believed to be in his 50s, but no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
